Okay, I'm not seriously suggesting Microsoft is paying off Netcraft to produce positive survey results (although this is certainly a standard operating procedure for Microsoft). But something is odd, if not rotten, in the state of Netcraft.
In a February report from Web site tracking and analysis firm Netcraft, the Apache Web server dipped below 60% market share for the first time since September 2002. Subsequent monthly reports indicated that the downward trend had continued unabated.
Could it be that Microsoft, Microsoft shills and/or Microsoft fanboys for same are “gaming” the uptime table at Netcraft? Unless I am misunderstanding something, frankly, I think they are.
Web statistics specialist Netcraft measured over 230 million websites in its webserver survey for October 2009. Apache comprises about 60% of the 4.3 million or so new sites gained since September, corresponding to 2.6 million sites, according to Netcraft.
According to Netcraft, their latest Aug 2007 survey shows more very large gains for Microsoft technologies on the web:

As part of this strategic alliance, both companies will leverage their technologies, including Sabayon Entropy to provide broader software distribution methods.
Paint.NET is one of the best image editing applications for Windows and it has a version for Linux too, called Paint.Mono (or Mono Paint). According to Miguel de Icaza, most of the features in Paint.NET have been ported over to Paint-Mono, with more to come. Apparently, this should also work on Mac OSX, details HERE.
