A team of students of Federal Institute of Science and Technology at Mokkannoor here on Monday claimed to have developed a super computing system called ‘Dakshina cluster series - I’. The system was designed and developed, as part of the Centre for High Performance Computing project initiated by the Computer Science Department. Team leader C.

SiCortex, claiming to be the first company to engineer a Linux cluster from the silicon up, has secured $10 million in venture capital. The funds have arrived as the company "launches its super energy efficient high performance Linux cluster computers," SiCortex said.

Tied to such a bizarre supercomputer design, SiCortex seemed certain to miss its product ship target. Not so, according to engineer Win Treese, who promised the boxes will arrive this Summer (beta systems out now) as planned, during a speech here at the Usenix conference.
