It appears that Vector Linux is moving to a faster release schedule. Vector Linux SOHO 5.8 is only a few months old but the first release candidate of Vector Linux SOHO 5.8.6 has been announced:

While I’ve found my share of little bugs and annoyances my overall take on Vector Linux 5.8 SOHO is that it is far more polished than any previous Vector Linux release, 5.8 Standard included. A lot of the issues I raised in my January review have been addressed and while some new bugs have cropped up they’ve been minor.

Vector Linux is a lightweight Linux distribution based on Slackware Linux. Today the SOHO (Small Office/Home Office) Edition of Vector Linux 6.0 was released, this edition is targeted at modern computers in an office environment.

A few months ago I was telling you about sK1, an open source vector graphics editor similar to CorelDRAW, Adobe Illustrator, or Freehand. At the time, you had to compile it, but now (actually it exists for quite some time, but I wasn't aware of it) there is an Ubuntu repository from where you can install the latest version.

Inkscape is my vector graphics application of choice. It can do a wide variety of vector drawing tasks with relatively little effort. It uses the now-standard SVG vector format as its native format, and it has become very extensible through a simple "stream-based", language-agnostic scripting system.
