The fifth annual Libre Graphics Meeting 2010, was held in Brussels earlier this year. Developers and users of Free, Libre and Open Source graphics software gathered to discuss the wonderful topic: – “Cutting edge graphics software meets free culture” Libre Graphics Magazine #0 was launched. Finally I have my mouse on a copy.

Already the fifth edition, Libre Graphics Meeting continues to grow and to become more relevant. Both attendance and organization were amazing this year. There were, of course, the developers of the various libre graphics software projects: gimp, inkscape, scribus, mypaint, nathive, blender, krita, laidout, nodebox, shoebot, phatch and many more.

The Libre Graphics Meeting brings together developers and users of free software graphics applications, such as the GIMP, Inkscape, Scribus, Blender, Krita, the Open Clip Art Library and more. This year the conference is in Wroclaw, Poland and we need to raise money to support travel for all these (often unpaid) Open Source developers to attend.

The staff behind the Free Software Developers' European Meeting (FOSDEM) have just announced that the 2011 conference will take place on the 5th and 6th of February. This is the first weekend of February, which is right around the time that the other FOSDEMs have taken place. Like always, this event will be taking place in Brussels, Belgium.

"The past two months have been interesting in the Chinese sense. A primary culprit of that was Microsoft's failed attempt to push their proprietary MS-OOXML format through ISO. But there were also talks and meetings with ministers (see [1][2]) to promote Free Software in Chile, the SELF board meeting in Argentina, review meeting in Brussels, and launch of the SELF beta platform.

The 9th Free and Open Source Developer Meeting (FOSDEM) scheduled for the 7th and 8th of February, is expecting 5,000 open source developers to attend at the University of Brussels.
