AboutWelcome to Free Software Daily (FSD). FSD is a hub for news and articles by and for the free and open source community. FSD is a community driven site where members of the community submit and vote for the stories that they think are important and interesting to them. Click the "About" link to read more...
FSDaily is a community driven site. Without submissions from the community there is no news for the FSDaily community. When you read a great free software related article you can share it with the rest of the free software community by submitting it to FSDaily yourself. An easy way to do this is using FSDaily Bookmarklets.
I just saw a submission in our upcoming queue from the linsux.org site which links to a forum in which one of the linsux.org members - among other things - encourages other members and readers of linsux.org to join the FSDaily community in order to vote down all stories from Boycott Novell.
If you are registered member of FSDaily and are logged in, you will see a new option next to "My account"... that's right - you now have your very own FSDaily blog account. If you have something free software related to tell the community go ahead and post it.
This took me a while to find, so I thought I would share it: "Here at FSDaily we do our best to make your lives easier by providing you with tools that can help with your FSDaily experience. Right now we have bookmarklets, which everyone can use, and three tools for website owners:FSDaily Submission Links, FSDaily Banners, FSDaily News Feed Blocks.
A quick message letting you know about the number of stories published and promoted on FSDaily. Also some thanks to the community for posting them and a special thanks to one member in particular...
Hello to everyone in this community, I will like to make a suggestion, I will like to see more "original and different" news and articles on
fsdaily, at least a 25% of them should be wrote by the users
This seems to happen time and time again. I don't understand why people consistently seem to ignore FSDaily when it is (or at least can be) the news chosen by the whole foss community. I also just found out that it ranks higher than all the other news hubs according to alexa.com. If you think FSDaily should be in this list please go comment on the post and vote "None of the above".
This is an urgent call to the FSDaily community to start digging through the upcoming queue and voting on more stories. Without YOU acting as an editor the site doesn't work.
Everyone knows that Digg is a hugely popular social news website where like-minded folks gather and flame each other to death. But if you're a Digg user and want to flex your coding skills to get a little more from the site, we've got the perfect code project for you: we're going to show you how to write a Python app to read Digg submissions and geo-locate them using GeoIP.
