This tutorial was written for the Debian Lenny distribution and supposes that the user has knowledge about what load balancing is and some basic skills of Linux, our two load balancers consist out of 2 machines that monitor each other [heartbeat], if the master stops responding the secondary one [Backup] will take the master role [Backup -> Master].

mod_qos gives some fine-grained opportunities to scale the number of used connections and to defend an attack according to bandwidth limits. Unfortunately it is only available as source-package and there are many possible settings, wich might be hard to set up for this special case. So I provide the way that helped me.

The latest Debian version – 5.0, codenamed Lenny – was released on 14 February. To mark the release, Linux Format magazine talked to some of the developers involved and took a look at the new stuff on offer.

Ok it’s time for another distro review and I’m a bit overdue with this one but I’m a big fan of Debian and when I reviewed Etch (4.0) last year I declared that if I were to finally grow up and settle down with just one distro this would be the one.

The Debian development community has officially released version 5.0 of the venerable open source Linux distribution. The new version, which is codenamed Lenny, includes updated software, security enhancements, and improved hardware support.
