Why Most Businesses Still Use Windows.
On paper, Linux seems to be the ideal workstation operating system for the corporate environment: highly configurable, free, secure, easily deployed in a network, extremely stable.... So why are medium and small businesses, the backbone of the US economy, not switching over to Linux?

Should FOSS Change to a Dual License?
I would be happy to see one of two courses of action. Either: (a) Change the licenses to make an exception for running on Windows - namely that it is not permitted. (b) Change the licenses so that only the original author may port their own software to Windows - as proprietary only!

The Dubious Benefits of Porting FOSS to Windows
A couple of weeks ago, the O’Reilly editors asked Is Microsoft Relevant in a Post-Rails World? Contrary to some reports, there are still desktop applications in the world besides a web browser–and there are plenty of desktop applications under serious development.

Microsoft's audacity at its best: "Our software is less of a security risk than Linux, Mac OS X"
"Wow. Sometimes, you read things like this and you wonder if Microsoft employees inhabit the same universe. Apparently, they haven't been following the rampant, constant security holes discovered and exploited in Windows over the past decade."

Linux going big time and prime time against Windows, UNIX (WSJ)
At least Microsoft is back to normal. In a recent article in the Wall Street Journal, Bill Hilf takes a familiar (if a bit worn and tired) swipe at Linux in the enterprise: "In the enterprise, it's not enough just to be a cheap operating system. You need to have applications for it, and it needs to be highly supported."

I started to explain the process in last posts. I hope that to this point you got used to those applications I've suggested before. If not, just have another week or two using them, until you're comfortable enough with them.
