This guide explains how to set up WebDAV with Apache2 on an Ubuntu 9.04 server. WebDAV stands for Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning and is a set of extensions to the HTTP protocol that allow users to directly edit files on the Apache server so that they do not need to be downloaded/uploaded via FTP. Of course, WebDAV can also be used to upload and download files.

Installing and configuring davfs2
One of the cool things about today Internet is how we can use several computers in different locations as if we were our single home computer (...) The solution I recently found was to create a free account at hasfiles.com. They give you 100Mb for free and let you access those files via webdav. Using davfs2, I can mount it as a partition on my system.
