my vi first steps
After a while of using vi I started to appreciate it's tremendous power. Nowadays I use it whenever I can. I must say vi has a steep learning curve but when you get past the first steps and have the feeling of the interface it's an incredible time-saver.

The Vi input mode for Kate is “done”
I just marked the Vi input mode (”V.I.M.”?) for the Kate kpart as done in the feature plan for KDE 4.2. It feels a bit weird to mark it as done, though, as there are tonnes of things I want to implement after KDE 4.2.

Close gedit, kick nano to the curb, and master vi/vim
Vi and Vim are extremely powerful text editors that are guaranteed to be on almost every *nix system you log into. You don't always have the comfort of a GUI & nano can be cumbersome when doing large tasks. Vi/Vim are an absolute necessity to every Linux admin and a life saver, so why not sit down, spend some time, and get to know your new friend

When I first started Linux, I fired up “Text Editor” and almost collapsed. What the hell was that? I like many Windows and Mac users, hit this bird on the first flyover of Linux.
