Right before Christmas, KDE has published the first candidate for the upcoming release of KDE 4.6.0. The focus at this stage is on fixing bugs and completing translations and artwork. As such, the rework of the Oxygen icon set is nearing completion, many bugs reported by testers in the past weeks have been fixed and stabilization is still in full swing.

When patents are included in software standards, they need to be licensed in a manner that doesn’t restrict their implementation in any way. Stallman crashes European Patent session
Richard Stallman made an unexpected appearance at a European Patent Office presentation in Brisbane today.
Stallman, pictured, who was also due to address the World Computer Congress later in the day, carried a placard that said: "Don't get caught in software patent thickets".
