Slackware Package Management

http://beginlinux.com

If you haven't played with Slackware within the past couple of years, you may still believe that the word “easy” doesn't go well with the words “update” and “package management”. But, two fairly new utilities, “slackpkg” and “sbopkg”, may help to change your mind.

Slackware 13 Wireless

http://beginlinux.com

Slackware is becoming a real favaorite for me. It's fast, nimble and rock solid. However, I have a HP Mini 100 with a Broadcom 4312 (rev.01) wireless card. If you know anything about this card you know this is bad news....real bad news. But I decided to write this article to create some encouragement to those of you who are ready to leave Linux because you cannot get wireless going.

Slackware 13.0 - ho hum

http://www.techiemoe.com

Slackware. It's an institution in its own right. Some might argue that it's *put* people into institutions as well, out of either frustration or zealotry. Whatever your opinion may be about it, there's little doubt that it's a strong one.

The first time I’ve ever been disappointed by Slackware

http://linuxcritic.wordpress.com

I guess I probably shouldn’t be too surprised, because I knew that Pat Volkerding has been working with my least favorite desktop environment and it’s been in /current for a while now. But I guess a part of me still was holding out a childish hope that Slackware 13.0 release would be KDE 3.5.10.

STUX 2.0 exhibits major improvements

http://www.linux.com

STUX 2.0, released last month, is a remarkable improvement from the 0.9.2 release I reviewed a couple years ago. While the look and feel of the Slackware-based distribution have stayed pretty much the same, STUX lacks the glaring technical problems that made it unusable on the previous occasion.

Review: Absolute Linux 12.1.05 – Slackware Made Easier

http://reddevil62-techhead.blogspot.com

INSTALLING Slackware is a Linux rite of passage. It is the computing equivalent of wandering off alone into the bush for a month armed with nothing more than a pointy stick and grim determination.
That is to say, it is quite a testing experience that is not to be entered into lightly. It is also something you only want to have to do once, if at all possible.

Why Many Projects Is Better Than a Few

http://vivapinkfloyd.blogspot.com

An essay regarding why a big number of projects is better than just a few, as some suggest. "I kept reading opinions regarding the big number of Linux distributions out there, most of them saying that we have a huge number of distros, each one with its own package management system, keeping Linux divided.

Upgrading to Slackware 12.1

http://www.linux.com

Pat Volkerding and the Slackware team released the latest version of Slackware Linux, 12.1, on May 2. Even though it is a "point one" release, the list of new features reads like what other distributions would consider a major new version. Slackware 12.1 features the latest KDE 3.5.9, Xfce 4.4.2, and a number of improvements, especially to udev.
