The Free Software Movement: an answer to a world built in code and/or a philosophy in itself ?
"...«Piracy,» Stallman said during his public speech in Bangalore on Saturday, «is totally wrong, because it is wrong to attack ships on sail.» If the person posing the question happens to get smarter and asks specifically about software and music piracy, Stallman gave an even better answer: «Pirates never attack ships with software and music, they do it with guns.» ..." --

RMS visit to Bangalore
Friday I left my office as soon as my friend Renukaprasad told me to pick RMS from an auditorium near Reserve Bank of India, where he was listening to a live concert. I took an auto and went to meet Renukaprasad who was there with him. I joined RMS and Dora for the concert. He was loving the Indian classical dance and music. After the concert we moved to the house where he was staying.

Report on Free Software Free Society, 2008.
For me, the high point of the conference was the chance to listen to people like RMS, Eben and Jimmy Wales - and a lot of other very interesting people with very interesting ideas.
Because we were sort of immersed in ideas for three days, I shall structure this report around these “ideas”.

The Kerala experience

An open response to Chris Frey regarding GFDL 1.3 - by RMS
"Dear Mr. Frey, Your letter about our recent change to the GFDL, which lets operators of some GFDL-covered wiki sites relicense their contents under Creative Commons BY-SA license, raises the important questions of whether this change and the way we made it were proper, and what they imply in regard to trusting the FSF's stewardship of our licenses in the future..."

Ideas for Changing America: Support the Free Software Movement !!
"Every generation has its philosopher — a writer or an artist who captures the imagination of a time. Sometimes these philosophers are recognized as such; often it takes generations before the connection is made real. But recognized or not, a time gets marked by the people who speak its ideals, whether in the whisper of a poem, or the blast of a political movement.

RMS: « Free Software Means 'Freedom' »
"As the founder of the free software movement and author of the GNU General Public License, I am writing to correct a misleading characterisation of free software presented in William Venema's article about open source.
