Building on the last post, I welcome the opportunity to share some of my experiences with deploying Linux in schools. It is a very broad topic however I will stay with the previous outline. First of all, it is a matter of migrating schools to Linux, not selling them. Second, the approach is different based on whether the school in located in a developing country, the EU or North America.

Introducing pointy-haired bosses to FOSS
Mike Dailey tries to convince us gave me the impression that moving to Linux is an all-or-nothing proposal. That's plain ridiculous. Remember the IBM "Peace, Love, Linux" campaign? I remember seeing Tux's smiling face on taxi cab billboards (and spray painted on sidewalks) all over Boston. I can't discount that the ad's approach and playfulness wasn't some sort of subliminal influence.

Help Spread Linux… Don’t Preach It!
What does using Linux mean to you? Do you simply use it because it works best for you? While at its heart Linux itself, is nothing more than a software kernel, to many people it is much more.
