Linus Torvalds – One of the Greatest Men Alive?
Being 39 years of age, Linus Torvalds was born on the 28th of December 1969 in Helsinki, Finland. Though the fact that he graduated the Helsinki University with a Master's degree in computer science may not seem very interesting, you should know that the University's decision to hold a UNIX course during his years there was one of the things that led to the creation of Linux.

ESR: GPL No Longer Needed
Eric S. Raymond is one of the three big figures in open source, together with Linus Torvalds and Richard Stallman. During a talk for the Long Island Linux User Group, he made some interesting statements about the GPL, namely that the GPL is no longer needed due to the way the open source movement works.

Converting Subversion repositories to Git
There are a number of version control systems available. Originally there was RCS, which was suitable for individuals, but not really suitable for groups of people. It evolved into CVS, which worked pretty well for years, and then Subversion came along, making a better CVS than CVS itself.
