Report: OSI corporate status suspended
A report from the 451 Group's analysts has revealed that the Open Source Initiative has had it's corporate status suspended by the Californian authorities. According to OSI President Michael Tiemann, the organisation has been unable to get "our paperwork to the state in time" and so the authorities have suspended the OSI's corporate status.

Netherlands: Microsoft wants open standards
This week the Dutch government will discuss a proposal to switch as much as possible to open standards and open source software. The Microsoft director for the Netherlands, Theo Rinsema, responded that Microsoft is not objecting to open standards, but the proposal excludes too many not open standards, like PDF, MP3 and GSM, which are widely accepted standards.

Michael Tiemann, president of the Open Source Initiative (and Red Hat's VP of Open Source Affairs), has decided to stand up against the flagrant abuse of the term "open source" (by companies like SugarCRM, CentricCRM, and MuleSource, and OpenBravo, to shame a few). He is urging the community to use "open source" only to refer to OSI-approved licenses.
