The groundbreaking free and open-source internet TV application Miro launched version 1.0 today. The public release of Miro marks a major milestone for the application which has been growing rapidly during its beta period receiving more than 200,000 downloads per month.

The Participatory Culture Foundation (PCF) has renamed and relaunched its open-source television platform in hopes of offering an "open, mass medium of online television." What was once known as Democracy Player is now Miro, which functions in mostly the same ways as Democracy Player but with a number of improvements and updates.
