With a bit of a delay, Ubuntu Tweak 0.5 has been finally released. We already posted a quick what's new guide (initially, 0.5 was supposed to be released on 1th of January, so read about most of the new features there), but let's have an even quicker look at what's new:

After Dell broke the ice for pre-installing Linux on desktops and netbooks in 2007, the other major OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) reluctantly tried it out, and, in some cases, like Lenovo, backed right back out of the Linux desktop market again. As 2010 dawns though, Lenovo and HP are both back in the pre-installed desktop Linux game.

This something I never had with windows. Confidence in my operating system. What do I mean by this? Well let me explain.

Greg Kroah-Hartman is a Linux kernel maintainer, and head of the Linux Drivers Project. He is a Novell Fellow, and works on the SUSE distribution for that company. At the Linux Foundation, Kroah-Hartman has helped to compile the “Who Writes Linux?” survey for the past few years.

What will follow are not promises or even predictions about what KDE is going to do in 2010. Instead, I'll be writing about things that we should probably put thought and attention to in the coming year. Some of these things are already getting attention and effort, some of them aren't. digiKam is a powerful and complete photo management tool from KDE. Among its many features is the ability to run batch processes, thanks to the Kipi plugin set. With a few simple clicks, users can manipulate multiple photos simultaneously, without having to remember long command line strings or taking countless hours to edit each file.
