Google Gadgets Developers Working on KDE 4 Integration
When Google released Google Gadgets for Linux many could see strong similarities to KDE 4 Plasma desktop shell widgets (Plasmoids). As it turns out developers of Google Gadgets are already working on integrating Google Gadgets with Plasma. This will enable Google Gadgets to run as native Plasmoids on the KDE 4 desktop.

KDE 4.0.5 Released
KDE 4.0.5 comes with several bugfixes, performance improvements and translation updates. KDE continues to release updates for the 4.0 desktop on a monthly basis. KDE 4.1, which will bring large improvements to the KDE desktop and applications will be released in July this year.

An interesting trend Ive noticed over the years is the thought process of how users install applications. Most of the time, a KDE user installing an application won't care what the application uses or what desktop it is designed for. They just simply install the application, use it, and get on with life.

Amarok 2 Gets Music Video Support!
Thanks to KDE 4 Plasma magic the video is nicely integrated into the context view of the user interface of Amarok 2. This feature is especially handy for watching YouTube videos, and they're working on integrating it directly with their SeeqPod service, allowing to find and play videos from the net in the blink of an eye.

KDE Tip - Switch NumLock On at Startup
I personally like the num lock key to be switched on by default once I’ve logged in to KDE. For me, it’s much more useful to have access to the numeric keypad as, just that, a numeric keypad, than it is to have a glorified arrow key navigation pad.

Test Latest KDE 4.1 Builds With KDE4Daily 4.1
With the release of KDE 4.1 on the horizon, and initiatives such as Krush days, recent call for help with documentation, and the perennial need for localisation it is very useful for end users to be able to easily get their hands on up-to-date builds. KDE4Daily VM, a self-contained Qemu image with a Kubuntu 8.04 base, aims to provide such a service.

Integration of Marble virtual desktop globe into KOffice 2
Simon Schmeisser has managed to integrate Marble (a geographical map widget) as a Flake Shape into KPresenter. As a flake shape you can change the map according to your liking even after it has been embedded into the KOffice application.

State of the Zooming User Interface (ZUI) for KDE 4.1
Chani Armitage has been hacking on ZUI for KDE 4.1. It ’s far from complete, but it’s at least becoming something you can actually use now. Keyboard shortcuts can be used to navigate it quickly and clicking an activity containment will make it the active one. She also added an option for removing activities.
