This tutorial is supposed to show some features of the Enlightenment window manager as an alternative to the often used Gnome and KDE managers. I will install Enlightenment on a desktop computer with Ubuntu 11.10 installed.

Sabayon 5.4 E17 review
Sabayon 5.4 E17 is one of several “Experimental Spins” of Sabayon Linux released just this week. It is based on E17, version 0.17 of Enlightenment, a multi-platform stacking window manager and desktop environment. This is the first time in more than two years that I have reviewed a distribution using the Enlightenment desktop environment.

Enlightenment has been quite interesting to me. It has not even got a beta release so far yet I like to use it. That is because, it does things differently. It is very efficient, keeps the CPU far more cooler than any other desktop environment.

Is Samsung sponsoring Enlightenment?
Samsung may be sponsoring the Enlightenment window manager project and Enlightenment may be a component in Samsung's bada mobile operating system. The Enlightenment project, which has been around since 1997, announced today that it was working with a "top-tier electronics maker" which "produces millions of mobile phones, televisions, sound systems and more".

First look at Geubuntu 7.10
