Create your online project site, start to finish, with Sakai
Sakai is an online Collaboration Learning Environment, CLE for short. Indiana University has proactively deployed it for 100,000 students, and over 120 other Universities are involved with their own local deployments or test beds. Clearly, this well received application is worth checking out and taking for a vigorous and thorough test run.

Kerala (India) School System Using Linux
The Indian state of Kerala has successfully deployed GNU/Linux operating system in well over 2500 schools. These computers will be used to give tests for students as well as to enable students to acquire valuable computer education.

European Union sponsors new FOSS education portal
Heavily funded by the European Union, the Science, Education, and Learning in Freedom (SELF) consortium launched the beta version of its site this week with the motto, "Be SELFish, share your knowledge!" By the end of the year, SELF hopes to develop into the Wikipedia of free learning materials, with a heavy emphasis on material about open standards and free and open source software (FOSS).

FSFE To Launch Free Software in Education Program for Teachers
A milestone for education on Free Software and Open Standards has been reached. On September 5th 2007 the beta version of the SELF Platform goes live. Open source booming in K-12 education
Can open source succeed where Windows and the Mac have failed? I’m talking here of K-12 education. An eSchools report (right) says open source spending is growing 70% per year, and will be up 800% in 2011 from last year’s level.
