Debian…the father and grandfather of many a Linux distro. I think indirectly Debian is probably running on more computers than any other Linux distro. It’s the basis of Ubuntu, Mepis, Xandros, and many others. And many people use Debian where they need a nice, stable distro.

Create a firewall that opens for you to go in, and then closes again
This firewall works like the open sesame, of the Sherezade 1001 nights, it opens whit the right "words" (ports), and then close again, so you can let the firewall normally close, and still connect from any IP when you are abroad.

As you may already know, managing software in Debian is done through tools like Synaptic and apt-get. These are called packages and are (mostly) freely available on the internet. Linux software packages are held on online libraries called repositories.
