A FAVOURITE project of ours, Gnote, has just achieved another major milestone/release, which constitutes a potential migration away from Novell's troublesome Mono. The new software is already being pushed for inclusion in Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic) and Debian GNU/Linux too.

"Hi, As you probably know, back in December last year it was decided that the Linux package shipped with Debian Lenny would include non-free code in it (so-called "blobs" of binary-only firmware).

Jaunty was a great experience, until around a month ago, when my nice ext4 file systems started to get corrupt on daily basis and I had to reinstall. I decided that it’s about time that I try out Debian.

The Debian project developers have announced the release of the first update to Debian 5.0 (codename Lenny), initially released in February. The update addresses several bugs and security issues in the initial 5.0 release.

The results of the election for Debian Project Leader have been announced and Steve McIntyre has retained his leadership of the free software GNU/Linux distribution.

"The Debian project made a splash on Sunday with the announcement that two new “architectures” had been added to the Debian FTP archive. Debian has always supported a wide range of processors, though; these architectures are different and noteworthy because instead of providing Debian on different hardware, they build the OS on a completely different kernel: FreeBSD’s.
