March 31, 1998 is the date that Mozilla was officially launched. It’s the date the first Mozilla code became publicly available under the terms of an official open source license and a governing body for the project — the Mozilla Organization — began its public work.

It was nine years ago this month that Gerard Beekmans started the very successful project called Linux From Scratch, or LFS for short. It was December of the year 1999 when LFS was first released but that is not when it was started. That start began in February. Gerard is not exactly sure of the date, he just knows that it is in February.
