http://www.eff.org

"In a brief filed in federal court yesterday, Universal Music Group (UMG) states that, when it comes to the millions of promotional CDs ("promo CDs") that it has sent out to music reviewers, radio stations, DJs, and other music industry insiders, throwing them away is "an unauthorized distribution" that violates copyright law..."

Microsoft Tries to Fight Libre with Gratis

http://boycottnovell.com

The last time we wrote about Microsoft’s ‘dumping crusade’ against GNU/Linux was just under a fortnight ago. This collective item included a new incident and references to our previous writeups about Microsoft’s DreamSpark [1, 2] — essentially another attempt to further close the World Wide Web, making it more Microsoft Windows-dependent.

Microsoft Certifying Open Source Apps for Windows Server 2008

http://www.thevarguy.com

A tiny but strategic Silicon Valley company is helping Microsoft to certify open source applications for Windows Server 2008. Just days after accusations had been made against IBM and a ban put in place, IBM was cleared of all charges and the ban was lifted. The Register was quick with its report and so was The Inquirer.

Is Microsoft really any more trustworthy?

http://www.linux-watch.com

Lately, Microsoft has been trying really, really hard to appear as open source's best friend. All I can say is: "With friends like these, who needs enemies?"

2007: Microsoft in Review

http://nazgum.wordpress.com

It’s no small secret. I hate Microsoft. I think they are the most vile and corrupt corporation in the tech industry. Their monopoly hampers innovation and they favor litigation, corruption and marketing tricks to maintain their position over simply creating great products.

Why Miguel, Why?

http://mrcopilot.blogspot.com

Dear Miguel,
Read your post. One question immediately springs to mind. Why?
Looking forward to Microsoft subverting an International Standards Organizations submission process, and beginning a new era of vendor lock-in and monopolistic office suites seems to be antithetical to Free and Open Source philosophy.
What happened to you Miguel, you used to be cool?

Microsoft just doesn't *understand* open standards

http://politics.slashdot.org

Recently I accidentally went to a short promotional Microsoft presentation (non-US) about OOXML for work...I came away from that presentation with the impression that Microsoft as a company, and especially at the executive level, doesn't actually have a clear understanding of what an Open Standard is.

What if... Windows went open source?

http://www.itwire.com

When Microsoft talks about open source, people in the FOSS community tend to generally take it with a pinch - or more likely a kilo - of salt. Revealing the crown jewels of its empire - the Windows source code - has never ever been canvassed.

OOXML Implementations: A Community of One?

http://www.fanaticattack.com

The ODFalliance.org now has a new OOXML Resource Section. Bellow you will find the complete text from “OOXML Implementations: A Community of One”. If anything, the ODF Alliance analysis is too charitable. OOXML is NOT CLOSE TO a community of one. Documents produced by Microsoft Office 2007 are not OOXML (Ecma 376), DIS 29500, or even DIS 29500 as amended at the BRM.
