THERE was a degree of hostility between Tomboy and Gnote. Part of it was to do with licensing issues (one complainer was Jo Shields), but as the following shows nicely, it would be hypocritical for Mono proponents to whine about this from now on.

From Russia with Linux
I came across two seemingly unrelated reports, one from the Register, stating that Microsoft will offer a choice of browsers in the EU version of Windows 7 and one from FAS Russia, which began proceedings in a case against several major hardware manufacturers. If this is the shape of things to come, it could mean the OS landscape is about to change.

On the other side of the coin, Microsoft continues to take issue with open source vendors over the issue of patents. One vendor that has called on Microsoft to be more open is Red Hat.
