As 2009 draws to a close, it's time to take a look back at what Ubuntu and its community have accomplished in the outgoing year.  There may be nothing revolutionary to report, but there have nonetheless been some notable changes to Ubuntu itself and the community around it over the last year.  Here's a look at the most memorable ones.

Another year goes by without the "Year of the Linux Desktop" (whatever that means) but that doesn’t mean that Free software is standing still. What highlights have there been over the last year and what is still holding us back?

Along with the Free and Open Source Developers European Meeting, the Open Source Business Conference was one of the two best conferences I've been to recently (I generally hate conferences). I got my geek on at: FOSDEM and actually enjoyed and learned from the technical sessions. Where OSBC is at the other end of the spectrum with business sessions, so I got my suit on.
