Fear, uncertainty, and doubt require money to exist and to be spread. When Shane wrote about the economics of FUD he was not necessarily referring to one’s ability to buy FUD from Linux companies. As we looked closer, however, it became evident that Microsoft simply paid Linux distributors to insinuate that Linux requires legal protection.

Has Linux adoption stabilised?
Looking at the w3school OS Statistics it shows that linux has been pretty much stable in its usage for the last couple of years. Does this mean that us Linux fanboyz are all talk and no action? If Linux has stabilised in its adoption then where are all the new users? Windows Vista has been increasing rapidly and is just about to surpass Linux

Understanding the Common User: Everything should be as simple as it is
Let’s begin with - Linux is simply the best. Open, free of charge, stable, reliable, flexible, and scalable. And God only knows why people do not want to use it. They grumble that it’s difficult, shows hardware problems, and lacks applications.

Your Freedom needs Free/Libre Software
Many of us know that governments can threaten the human rights of software users through censorship and surveillance of the Internet. Many do not realize that the software they run on their home or work computers can be an even worse threat. Thinking of software as "just a tool", they suppose that it obeys them, when in fact it often obeys others instead.

Linux coders tackle power efficiency
"Maybe you'd be better off if you didn't spend so much time looking at your watch."

SuperTux, another videgame for Linux
Jacob’s recent post on Lemmings clone Pingus reminded me of a similar game (similar in the penguin content anyway) which is also great fun to play and can give you that nostalgic feeling. It is basically a Super Mario clone, called SuperTux. Unsurprisingly, instead of the moustached man, you control everyone’s favourite operating system mascot, Tux.

Anybody up to writing good directory software?
Tue, 2007-02-20 11:17 — David JonathanFrom the very start, directories have served a very useful purpose on the Internet. (One I find useful for example is Free Web Directory). News sites can also be considered directories: they index and categorize news stories! What about categorizing software? In the open source world you get Savannah, SourceForge, Freshmeat; there are still, believe it or not, shareware and freeware directories like FileBuzz, PCWin Download Center and Freeware Downloads (although you need to be careful, as they are not like their free-as-in-freedom counterparts).
Is better education the key to finding better software?
Sat, 2007-03-03 03:25 — Edward RusselAbout Jonathon's article Anybody Up To Writing Good Directory Software?, it's clear that the topic of software directories is very hot. Most of what you find on Google, however, are not pointing to free and open soruce software -- or worse, they mix the two. Examples of such sites are Freeware Downloads and Shareware Download, which simply don't focus on "free as in freedom", and still can be used as good free software directories.
