PUD/GNU Linux to the rescue!

One thing I forgot to mention about my thus-far-successful adventure tuning my coworker’s VAIO … Xubuntu ran awfully slow on that machine. The live CD was so sluggish as to be unusable. It was PUD/GNU Linux that saved the day, by letting us boot to an extremely lightweight GUI and salvage files off her hard drive.

Ubuntu Fatal Flaw?

When you do your RESEARCH first, installing Ubuntu or SLED or Fedora.. etc is not difficult. To install Ubuntu (any flavor) in my Toshiba M45-S265 Satellite you will die durring install if, as I have done, you forget to add the command pci=noacpi to the boot command.
