Question: Why switch to Linux or a Mac?

I'm no friend to Windows. I know the operating system too well to trust it. But, I did think that even though Windows is defective by design, you could keep it relatively safe by installing patches quickly and using anti-virus software religiously. I was wrong.

A bunch of people who left TalkBacks to this post believed that this announcement that I will primarily be running Windows in a virtualized mode — by using Linux as my primary OS — was either a calculated attack, a form of shilling promotion for Ubuntu, or a flat-out overreaction.
