Dell explains Linux to non-technical users

Well, sort of. On the StudioDell site where they have all their DellTV-ish howtos and infos, they've got a new 5 minute video called: "Linux 101: What's all the Fuss?" It focuses heavily on Ubuntu with screencasts to go with the commentary that roughly explains the concept of open source and gives examples of popular open source applications.

Getting the most from open source

Link to a BBC "online" programme that is all about linux, F/OSS, etc etc. Good to see "them" telling the masses that there are alternatives, not so good that the actual programme this is related too (available online and broadcast on the BBC "News24" channel) treats this whole subject with a little too much (for my liking) stigmatisation/levity (mentions of "bearded techies" and similar).

Ubuntu Linux's Mark Shuttleworth in the Hot Seat

Free Software Magazine pays for articles!

We started FSM about 3 years ago with two goals in mind: publish fantastic articles about free software, and pay people to write good articles. We believe we managed to reach the first goal. As far as payment, before now, we never managed to pay cash for articles.
