Half of the battle in graphic design is working smarter, not harder. I've done some tutorials for Gimp which push that tool to its limits, but too many folks focus on Gimp and forget that we have a whole arsenal of power graphics tools on the Linux desktop. Here is one image which would have been a pain to do in Gimp, but a snap in Inkscape.

I never found good documentation on upgrading/compiling linux kernel in Debian, Most of the time I stuck in between and my running libs gets corrupted, then same story; Put new hard disk, Install latest Debian, mount old HDD and copy all the contents.
After reading documents in net, I setup my step-by-step Linux kernel up-gradation (Bash Scripts) in Debian. Up-till now I upgraded more than 5 Debian kernels without any problem.

Virtual Hosting With PureFTPd And MySQL (Incl. Quota And Bandwidth Management) On Mandriva 2007 Spring
This document describes how to install a PureFTPd server that uses virtual users from a MySQL database instead of real system users. This is much more performant and allows to have thousands of ftp users on a single machine. In addition to that I will show the use of quota and upload/download bandwidth limits with this setup. Passwords will be stored encrypted as MD5 strings in the database.

The open industry group overseeing the PowerPC architecture has gained seven new members, including two more embedded Linux providers. Power.org now boasts 35 corporate members, including semiconductor vendors, embedded design service companies, chip design tool vendors, chip foundries, OEMs (original equipment manufacturers), and hardware and software vendors.

Slackware: old warhorse is going strong
The last time I looked at Slackware was nearly seven years ago; version 7.1 was thrown my way by a magazine and I was asked for a review. My usage of the distribution had ended early in 2000 when I moved to Debian after using Slackware 4.0 and then 7.0 for about a year.
