Google supports OSU Open Source Lab
The Oregon State University Open Source Lab’s capacity to support open source projects is being expanded through a donation of $300,000 from Google. That increases the company’s cumulative support of academia's leading open source development center to $750,000.

Car PC puts Atom in single DIN slot
Portwell has introduced an interesting Intel Atom-based PC aimed at in-car entertainment. The PCS-8230 fits into a single DIN slot, offers TV tuner, WiFi, and GPS modules, has a SDIO slot and a 2.5-inch hard drive bay, and delivers six channels of analog audio, says Portwell.

Foxconn And Linux
Today's big story seems to be a piece of code in a Foxconn motherboard that checks what the operating system is and, based on that information, uses a different piece of code for each OS. Unfortunately, the code for Linux seems to cause some major errors, due to an allegedly incorrect implementation of the ACPI standards, as best I understand it.

"Handheld recording studio" mixes with Linux
Trinity Audio Group is taking orders for a handheld multi-track recording device that runs Linux. The Indamixx integrates the 64Studio Linux music distribution with an off-the-shelf Samsung handheld, so audio producers can record, edit, equalize, audition, and mix audio at up to 32-bit/96Khz rates on-the-go, the company says.

Open Source P2P Streaming Getting Ready to Disrupt CDN Business Models
