Enlightenment - An easy-to-use Linux GUI

http://backyardgeek.blogspot.com

In the 10 years I've been using Linux, I've run the gamut of window managers and desktop environments: FvWM, FvWM95, ICEWM, AfterStep, BlackBox, KDE, GNOME, Beryl, Fluxbox, CDE, XFCE, Windowmaker, Sawfish, Metacity, WM2, as well as Compiz. But it seems that no matter how many times I try another Linux GUI, I always go back to Enlightenment.

IBM spins OpenOffice

http://www.networkworld.com

IBM calls its new office productivity suite, built upon OpenOffice, Lotus Symphony. This disappoints two groups. The first group, fans like me of OpenOffice, wish it kept the OpenOffice name to help further the open cause. The second group wishes the old Lotus Symphony office suite, an early competitor to Microsoft Office, had climbed out of the grave.

Ubuntu and the future of the Linux desktop

http://blogs.cnet.com

I will admit to being a Linux desktop nonbeliever. It feels a bit like yesterday's battle fought with the wrong weapons: geekiness rather than ease of use. There's a chance--still a slim one, but a chance nonetheless--that Ubuntu will change that.

Linux Jealousy: My Wife Switched to Ubuntu

http://www.patchshorts.com

So Amanda has been watching me use my computer for years. She's seen the evolution of my computer usage over time as I have transitioned from OS to OS. When I started using Linux she called it the black hole for it's color and ability to gain my sole attention for hours on end, and with no tangible results, seemingly to her. I was solely using Gentoo then.

There have been some decent attempts at creating good supporting documentation, but they have been mostly fragmented and not generally effective for most developers..."
