Mandriva Linux Wins My BIg Fat Gratitude
Over the last few days I’ve installed a smorgasboard of *nix distros, trying to find one that will work with my hardware. I was looking for a recent distribution with a decent desktop, either KDE or Gnome. You’d think that this kind of generic iron wouldn’t be a problem to find an OS for.

Using Gnome Shell – Day 7
Fathers Day, and the end of my Gnome-Shell series. I still find it surreal to log into a session running Gnome-Shell and see a desktop devoid of familiar features. Gnome-Shell is the new direction Gnome is going for release 3, and Ubuntu seems set on following suit. Will this be a smart move?

Are the shoulders of Linux groaning under the weight of the world?
I never get tired of mentioning the fact that Linux supports more hardware and is on more devices than any other operating system I know of. It runs on anything from the largest super computers in the world to a computer smaller than a matchbox. In short practically the whole world is supported by Linux.

Linux zealots - Isn't it time to grow up?
I read an article today about an issue that a user had with windows popping up over the screen saver in an environment with ePHI. The author concludes rightfully so that there will never be a year of Linux on the "desktop". When I got down into the comments, I found the typical responses from the Linux zealots.
