This is the kind of thing I don't particularly enjoy writing, but as I have been blogging about learning Linux, and I've tried to approach as an "ordinary PC user" would, I think it's important to pass along lessons learned from mistakes. Of course, my approach to Linux is tainted by my very long history with Unix, and perhaps that's what happened in this case...

Recently, I read an article describing some of the things people say about the author's Ubuntu laptop. The post described the funniest quotes, not the most popular, but I was still interested to see that many people seemed to think that the Ubuntu laptop was running Mac OS X or a new version of Windows.

Linus Torvalds is on the spotlight this week. First he calls OpenBSD crowd a bunch of masturbating monkeys.

But, where do these companies, and even smaller ones, get their advice? who tells them the way to go? Is it all inhouse admins, executives and techs?

There's been a lot of discussion recently about Canonical and it's contributions to upstream, mainly due to an off-the-cuff comment by GregKH on a google video, and mainly in relation to the Linux kernel. Greg's statement, while correct when compared to his data, was incorrect because of improper data collection.
