I've had Fedora linux for a while now. I've enjoyed all of it for the longest time. I wasn't always, I was a Windows user. I am by no means a linux expert, but I am somewhat confident with my PC skills. Either way, the switch to linux that I made was hard, but has paid off in so many ways now.

Installfest at LinuxWorld could seed national program
IDG World Expo has teamed up with open source security gateway provider Untangle and electronics recycler Alameda County Computer Resource Center (ACCRC) to host an Installfest for Schools at LinuxWorld Conference and Expo in San Francisco next week. Volunteers will refurbish older discarded computers with free and open source software (FOSS) before they are donated to schools in need.

OLS 2008 wrap-up

A lot of Linux users especially the ones who are newly finding their feet and have become recent converts of Linux get far too enthusiastic about the joys and benefits they experience after they have converted to Linux. They get excited and try to convert as many people as possible to their favourite OS.

2008 SourceForge.net Community Choice Awards (video)
This was a "you had to be there" event. We captured all the award presentations and some of the byplay, but most of the fun took place off-camera, and maybe a "What happens at the Community Choice Awards stays at the CCA" attitude is better than trying to show you all the game-playing, drinking, eating, drinking, tattooing, drinking, socializing, and drinking that went on.

The Most Interesting README File Ever?
Another linux zealot at my old job gave me the heads up on this, it’s directly from gnome-cups-manager, and I thought you would all enjoy it. If you’re not aware, the readme file is for a Gnome graphical front-end for a tool used to manage print queues and adding printers/etc.
