Linux World 2008/Streets of San Francisco
The latest edition of Linux World ground to a halt in San Francisco today. I made it into town just last night for a VIP party hosted by the Linux Foundation, where I caught up with lots of true believer friends (developers, journalists and corporate supporters), and for the Board meeting today.

Editor's Note: Open Source Is Not Going To Sue You
The Pitfalls of Open Source Litigation ran a couple of days ago. It painted a picture of Open Source software as being a minefield of grumpy litigious geeks who want to cash in with fat lawsuits, and no clear guidance for how to stay out of trouble. Oddly, this all seemed to come from a most unlikely source, the director of the Gnome Foundation, Stormy Peters.

Why Linux Continues to Evade Mainstream Users
Reading articles like this certainly make us feel good, but I have to say that they leave me with a bad taste in my mouth. While we run around patting each other on the back for a job well done on the adoption front, the truth is that most people, real computer users, not geeks, are using Windows. Does this mean that Linux is not ready?
