What IS the relevance of an operating system?
Back when I was studying CIS in the ’90s I took a class called “Operating Sytems”. In that class an operating system was defined as a mediator between user and hardware. We never discussed the concept of Windows, UNIX, Linux, Mac, etc.

I was pricing a low-end desktop computer the other day. When configuring it, I noticed that if I added a four-year warranty, it would cost more than the entire system! We've really come to the point where computer hardware is like a plastic fork. If a tine breaks off, it gets thrown away. Sadly, although throwing away plastic forks is rough on the environment, used computers are so much more so.

Unnecessary Fanboys ( or, As The Pendulum Swings)
I use MS Windows. It's true. I use it almost daily. I was originally trained using Novell Netware. I have used Apple Mac to a pretty good extent. Been known to work on a 'pure' Unix system or two as well. I use Linux every single day at home and at work. find there are pros and cons for every OS.

Technical Review Calls OpenSUSE a “Beast”, Recommends Other Distros
To sum it all up: in my opinion openSUSE is not well suited for Linux newbies. Maybe businesses, but not newbies. Not even newbie businesses… unless they’re l33t Linux superh4xx0rz. And I just personally didn’t like openSUSE — just an opinion from a Linux newbie, so it shouldn’t reflect on whether openSUSE is good or not… but Linux Mint is WAY better.
