Tips and tricks for working on the command line

Anyone that has been reading these tips for any length of time knows that I am a command-line guy. It’s faster, more efficient, and more powerful. Sure, a nice GUI is great to look at, but to really get things done, give me the CLI any day. Even to this day I still use a text-mode e-mail client (Mutt) and text-mode IRC client (Irssi).

There are many options with USB Flash drives now. Here is a tutorial on how to install Damn Small Linux on a Pen Drive. This is version 4.4.7, the newest version. Plugin your Pen Drive in to the USB slot. For DSL it is a great one to experiment with because you can use a small Pen Drive to work with. A 256 MB Pen Drive allows you a lot of space since the operating system is only 50 MB.

Installing DAHDI in CentOS

Due to trademark issues with the name Zaptel digium has announced change in the name,DHADI (Digium Asterisk Hardware Device Interface). Asterisk 1.6.0 and later version will use DAHDI, while Asterisk 1.4 will support both Zaptel and DAHDI. Asterisk 1.2 will be unaffected by these changes.
