Authorities in China and Australia ‘Sell’ Their Children to Microsoft
It's no hoax: “They’ll get sort of addicted, and then we’ll somehow figure out how to collect sometime in the next decade.” -Bill Gates. WELL, what can we say? Like most such deals, it smacks of collusion or dumping, sometimes even bribes like Live@Edu, public looting, or even addiction techniques like the *Spark programmes.

Microsoft and Novell Still Grow Closer
Evidence of Novell/Microsoft intersection from this week's news. LAST night's joke about Novell and IBM did not amuse those who hate this Web site, but it was a statement with a purpose. As oiaohm explains, today (April 1st) is a good opportunity to publish things which contain an element of truth and then discuss the impact as though it was all true.

Open Cloud Manifesto Would be Absolutely Right to Exclude ISO Corrupter, Microsoft
THERE is some outrageous coverage in the press which not only misses the point that Microsoft was kept inside the "Open Cloud Manifesto" loop; it also falls for Microsoft's PR stunt, which almost characterises the company as a proponent of openness.

Microsoft Pays Professor to Write a Paper Against IBM’s GNU/Linux-Powered Mainframes
MICROSOFT'S "academic kickbacks" are no news to us. Microsoft pays hundreds of dollars to professors who secretly promote its products (and bullies those who don't). Microsoft was doing almost exactly the same thing to throw fire at the GNU GPL version 3. The company from Redmond routinely pays academia to promote its agenda and here is the very latest example which comes from the New York Times.

Hey! Come Join The Losers! Get a PC!
Let's play identify an advertiser: "I'm just not cool enough to be a Mac person." Who is paying for that ad? Microsoft. Yes, Microsoft. I'll give Microsoft some credit for trying, but they just can't seem to get an ad right. In fact, their last few ads have looked more like parodies than real ads. This one is no exception.

"Get the facts" on browsers
When I was heading to download IE8 to test its JS performance, I saw this link about "Getting the facts" on web browsers. Having the knowledge of what "Get the facts" meant back in time when that was devoted to trying to put GNU/Linux in bad light against Windows-et-all, I just couldn't help myself and went in there to see what was showing up.
