Amid the embrace of Fog Computing, Red Hat shares its source code, whereas Novell keeps all cards to itself; Microsoft/Novell spread "security" FUD to stifle migration to Fog Computing in Los Angeles

Novell has launched a new Web service called SUSE Studio that simplifies the process of building Linux-based software appliances. It provides a convenient interface for creating custom versions of Novell's SUSE Linux distribution with specialized configurations. The service is part of Novell's broader SUSE Appliance Program initiative.

In SCO's reply to Novell's appellate brief, it tells the court: Contrary to Novell's allegations, Santa Cruz "did not add any Novell copyright notices to," or "remove any copyright notices" from, the source code it acquired from Novell. In fact, it was Novell that changed the notices to add the Santa Cruz notice. (Id.)

Novell today claimed to have more certified software partners than rival Linux providers. The chest pumping represents Novell’s latest thinly veiled attack against Red Hat. But take a closer look at Novell’s claims and you’ll see why Red Hat may take issue with some of Novell’s statements.

Hungary starts embracing more Free software, but Novell is a mismatch. THIS is not yet another report about Microsoft's corruption in Hungary [1, 2, 3]. Hungary is actually beginning to soften (not Soften) and consider Free software. Mistakenly however, an official in Hungary lists Novell as a prime candidate, despite the fact that Novell - by its own admission - is merely a mixed source company.

Selling fear. That’s just what Novell does along with Microsoft, but it’s not alone. Novell tries to cause damage to friendly (Free software) rivals for the benefit of Microsoft and increased profit at Novell.

Novell is gunning for a chunk of the office market share from Microsoft with the release of its open workgroup suite for small businesses.

Recently, Novell Inc. has been the beneficiary of generally good news. First, Microsoft gave Novell the nod to write open source extensions to its new System Center, which signals Microsoft’s move toward greater interoperability. This will benefit all open source vendors, but Novell in particular, because these extensions are built on Novell’s ZENworks management software.
