Vyatta, the feisty open source startup that is trying to take router market share from Cisco and Juniper - is getting an injection of $10 million today. The $10 million is Vyatta's 'C' round of financing and is led by Citrix Systems. That's a decent sized investment from my point of view.
Someone on this blog pointed me at vyatta, and to that person - THANK YOU! I have now tried Vyatta, not only have I tried it I have fallen in love with it. In a nutshell Vyatta is a fantastic mangment layer on top of Debian, OpenVPN, iptables, Quagga, Snort and OpenSWAN amongst others.
Vyatta has announced the availability of its 2.2 beta, codenamed "Camarillo." This release includes a number of enhancements, new features, and more than 100 bug fixes for Vyatta's commercially supported open, flexible router (OFR) distribution.
Open source appliance maker Vyatta has unveiled the 3500 networking appliance family, which combines routing, firewall and VPN functionality. Vyatta claims it costs 1/20th the price of rival Cisco gear. But are partners and customers listening?
"Kelly Herrell, CEO of Vyatta, and I were introduced recently. The folks making the introduction said “Kelly is CEO of Vyatta, the open source routing company. They are going to change the networking world.” With that sort of introduction, how could I possibly turn down a chance to learn about Vyatta’s technology and why it was “going to change the networking world.”"
Startup Linux networking vendor Vyatta is set to announce a new hardware appliance on December 9th. The new device will add more power to Vyatta's lineup of networking products that they are targetting competitively against Cisco and other proprietary vendors.
Open source networking vendor Vyatta is rolling out the latest community edition of its routing software, continuing efforts to target Cisco users in a battle for a slice of the multi-billion-dollar router market. But while Vyatta Community Edition 3 (VC3) adds new features, users of Vyatta's subscription-based edition may not notice much change.
