Microsoft front attacks FOSS in a new paper which IDG gives visibility to

The Alexis de Tocqueville Institution is not new to us. It is a sort of lobbying vehicle that Microsoft too has been using, sometimes against Linux. We are also very interested Stephen Norris and the Carlyle Group, which is connected to him.

This one has been circulating for the past few hours (also sent to Groklaw and added by now). The articles really speak for themselves and they all originate from (or cite) IDG. Although it is not related to Novell, it sure relates to anti-consumer — and probably anti-competitive too — moves from Microsoft.

Microsoft's latest steps in Europe are dissected despite great secrecy. A WHILE ago we showed that one familiar Microsoft lobbying arm had just published an anti-Free software paper.

The first One Hundred Paper Cuts milestone was completed on time! Ten Ubuntu paper cuts and one Kubuntu paper cut were fixed.

Current versions of the Rock and Paper run the Android operating system and retail for US$79 and US$99 apiece. Both share just about the same specs, other than the fact that the APC Paper does not have a VGA port and ships in a book-like case.

We did not heal all ten paper cuts in Round 2, but we made excellent progress on seven of them, while three paper cuts (and one Kubuntu paper cut) need some more attention before they can be healed.

Paper cuts are rather trivial usability bugs that are small, but in one way or another could impair the Linux desktop. The first ten of the one hundred paper cuts for Ubuntu 9.10 have now been determined.
