Only two countries in the world have software patents which make it impossible to freely use video codecs such as AVC (H.264). [The Wild Fox project] aims to release Firefox builds with the features previously excluded due to software patents. This software will be available to those in non-software patent encumbered countries.

Google Chrome and other WebKit-based browsers aren't the only ones getting improved 3D graphics handling capabilities. As of September 18th, Firefox trunk builds include support for WebGL.

The Mozilla people have started producing free software builds of firefox; "compiled with branding, logos and talk-back removed."

Mozilla has released a fifth Firefox 4.0 development preview , labelled Firefox 3.7 Alpha 5, based on the latest Gecko web rendering platform. This alpha adds support for the WebM video format, and there are 64-bit builds for Linux and Mac OS X

The Web Developer extension adds a menu and a toolbar to the browser with various web developer tools. It is designed for Firefox, Flock  and Seamonkey, and will run on any platform that these browsers support including Windows, Mac OS  X and Linux.

Since last week's announcement of the YouTube and Vimeo beta versions which use HTML5's element, the Mozilla developers have been defending the fact that Firefox 3.6 cannot play the content on these betas even though it supports HTML5. The reason for the problem is that the HTML5 working groups decided not to specify which video codecs the tag would support.
