An objection from IBM lodged with the bankruptcy court has opened up a surprise new front in the SCO Group liquidation hearing. According to IBM lawyers, in 2008 SCO boss Darl McBride made personal payments to Steven Norris via an intermediary, for searching for further investors willing to invest in SCO.
Here's SCO's response [PDF] to IBM and Novell's Objections to SCO's proposed sale to unXis and Novell's opposition to SCO's Notice of Cure, as text. The most interesting detail is that Darl McBride admits, or should I say claims, that he paid Stephen Norris $100,000 out of Darl's personal funds for Mr. Norris' efforts to "put together a group of investors".

Well, my dreams are coming true. This is better than eagles. A new lawsuit with Darl McBride, Stephen Norris and Bryan Cave all named as defendants by Pelican Equity. The accusation? That day, the Chris Sontag testimony had finished up, which I've shown you already, and after him, Novell called Darl to the stand. After him, there were two other witnesses but we'll look at their testimony separately.
"I was recently perusing through some old podcasts and came across an IT Conversations episode from November of 2003. It featured a speech given by SCO's CEO, Darl McBride, at Jupitermedia's Computer Digital Expo Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada on November 18th, 2003. The speech was titled "There's No Free Lunch...Or Free Linux.""
