So, when mutually assured destruction

So, when mutually assured destruction (MAD) is on the table and MS can't fire the first missile 'cause IBM etc. will retaliate, what do they do? They move some of their boys into an IP trolling company and have them fire the shots because there can't be any IP infringement retaliation. And who do they aim at? Red Hat and Novell. Novell! Oh Novell has patent protection from us says MS; but they don't have protection from this IP troll company we control. Tut tut. Silly Novell didn't see that coming did they.

And Ballmer smugly says it's not just MS who'll be after Linux for IP infringement. And then waits while everyone falls over themselves saying he's full of fud, and he waits for Red Hat to tell their customers it's just fud, settle down, no need to panic. And then BAM! They have their puppets strike.

Yeah, I agree. However, the publicity

Yeah, I agree. However, the publicity from the SCO attack blew Microsoft's cover with an ever increasing section of the IT world.

Microsoft spend billions on advertising calculated to fool their basic users, but they are steadily building a sense of alarm, distaste, and ill-will, at their practices, among everyone who matters in the IT-world.

I don't think they will be able to successfully lurk in the shadows this time around, and all of us need to make every post a winner in exposing their involvement with these patent-trolling jackals.

Hopefully, this will come back to bite them were it hurts most, and it couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of utter creeps.
