Swiftfox is nice and fast Firefox replacement, it is an optimized built of Firefox. Some of us are using it. But, everything can't be so good. Why we shouldn't "get Swiftfox"?

Yesterday, I installed Debian Etch with minimal desktop. There weren't any web browser. I fire w3m to download my nice & and fast Swiftfox. But, I connect to www.getswiftfox.org instead of www.getswiftfox.com, by mistake. And after reading that page, guess what I did? Of course:
apt-get install icedove :)

so the correct answer when somene asks that he ***needs*** to run a flash player is not to run a flash player? what do you know about ***WHY*** i need it? Avoid yourself the sites requiring flash and I will do whatever the f*** I want, if you don't mind... and also if you do.
If you don't know the answer you shouldn't answer clever boy, that's the point.

You don't **need** to run flash
You **want** to run flash. Learn the difference before questioning a response that is based off ethics and a solid appreciation for the very movement that this site is based.

actually, is this site really even dedicated to helping the agenda of The Free Software Movement? So far, I've seen numerous examples of elhombresinatributos' defending the practice of running non-free software.

News is news. If it's about Microsoft
News is news. If it's about Microsoft attacking Linux, then it's free software news.
We are not here to promote anybody's agenda. We are here to give free software news. Pretty much every piece of news related to free software is in the queue, and some things end up getting promoted - most of it, buried.
I voted for an article published in the Redmond Journal. It's not a pleasant read, to me it's important to let people know how Microsoft is seeing free software.
If I am wrong, my stories will be voted down.

I agree with merc and snotbutter;
I agree with merc and snotbutter; if there is a news item about free software (even negative ones) anywhere on the net, then it should be here on fsdaily... at least in the upcoming queue. If it's interesting or important then I will vote for it and I trust everyone else to do the same.
I do think it is important for people like windowsreefund and mattflaschen to be here on the site because they help to add valuable information and opinions to the stories.
The only thing I would suggest to windowsreefund is that he tries to be a little gentler with his opinions. People don't like being told they are wrong, often even when they know it. But they usually like it when they are shown in a pleasant way how they can do things better.
Good to have you guys around. :)

I think this story is kind of BS
I think this story is kind of BS because the developer of Swiftfox is making no changes to the code. All he's doing is taking the native source for firefox and recompiling it with the best CFLAGS and optimization levels for different CPU architectures. He even says (at least the page for the P4 build) what optimizations and what buildconfig he's using: http://getswiftfox.com/rel-pentium4.htm I don't believe he's doing anything wrong, all he's doing is some small optimizations while compiling to make things work faster.
