I'm not sure how this network access issue is related to software freedom.
AT&T's network was being flooded with requests to 4chan, the sort of requests that are associated with denial of service attacks. AT&T responded by failing to respond to requests to 4chan (for a limited time), they did not block access to 4chan.
The idiots at 4chan caused their own demise by being the idiots they are.
