I have been tracking one site that's devoted to web subjects and that's not inclined towards one browser or another. It's www.w3schools.com and the statistics from it are... well, very different from hitslink's.

Here we find that FF has reached over 45% and, as a matter of fact, for the first time, FF reached more market share than all versions of IE they display in the statistics combined.

These are the kind of stats that should make the Mozilla folks very happy. According to W3Schools data, Firefox climbed to 46.4% in February, while the various versions of IE dropped by 1.2% to 43.6%.

Firefox 3.5 was released just a couple of hours ago and it comes with great new features and a new version of Gecko, the rendering engine. Mozilla recently updated its product roadmap through 2010. According to the first draft, the current browser will see a minor update in Q4 2009 as well as Q2 2010. Version 4.0 is headed for an October or November 2010 release.

According to the roadmap for the open source browser, the Mozilla developers plan to launch the next major Firefox release in October or November 2010. Around the same time, Mozilla plans to release version 2 of its Fennec smartphone browser.
