Non-free software
The software one is supposed to install here is non-free, apparently even with an EULA.
Because of the malicious features of Blu-Ray discs and players, I strongly recommend not buying any Blu-Ray players at all or any movies until they can be viewed using 100 % free software.

Good News
I downloaded the source package and checked a few of the source files. MakeMKV makes use of various free software and MakeMKV itself is free software licensed under LGPLv2.1. Maybe you were looking at the binary package for Windows which probably has an associated EULA.
